Does the Lomi Countertop Composter really work? In a word, yes. Over the course of a month, I used Lomi in every mode, and it worked as advertised. During the month, I added pretty much any kind of food scrap or leftover I could think of, including things I have never added to other compost systems.

Can paper towels go into Lomi?
You add your table scraps and some compostable items to the dishwasher-safe Lomi pail like paper towels, tea bags, biodegradable plastics and even dairy and meat (minus bones), seal the lid on tight, add water and a LomiPod and use one of the three settings depending upon what composting "experience" you are after.
Does Lomi take raw meat?
Yes! Meat can go into Lomi. All animal products (other than bones) are Lomi-friendly. Keep in mind that for Grow mode and when optimizing for gardening dirt, we recommend a blend of fruit and vegetable scraps.
Does the Lomi composter smell?
The Lomi machine breaks down your food scraps using heat, abrasion, and oxygen. Similar to how worms and microbes break down organics into soil, the Lomi turns your waste into smaller, soil-like fragments without the smell, mess, or worms.
Is getting a Lomi worth it?
If you're putting your scraps in the green bin right now and don't have other ways to break it down, a Lomi may be the best option for you. It's a convenient, small-footprint device that will keep your food remnants out of the green bin and allow you to put them back into your soil.
Can you use Lomi without the pods?
Do I need to add a LomiPod to every cycle? It is always good to use LomiPods, but it is especially important when running a cycle with bioplastics (Lomi approved mode) or when planning to use Lomi's nutrient-rich dirt in your garden or plants (Grow mode).
Can you put leftovers in Lomi?
The Lomi compost process can break down household waste such as vegetable food scraps, meat & fish, leftovers (casseroles, soups), small soft bones (chicken & fish), soiled paper products, compostable bioplastics, coffee grounds, houseplant foliage.
Can I put chicken bones in my Lomi?
You can toss in food scraps such as fruit and veggie bits, grains, eggshells, meat scraps, soft bones, and coffee grounds. You can also put plant trimmings and compostable paper plates, bags, and cups in the Lomi.
Can I put popcorn in Lomi?
I used the Lomi Approved setting and filled it with burnt popcorn, herb stems, banana peels, orange peels, avocado shells, soiled paper towels, onion skins, and tea bags (however, not all tea bags are compostable—always check the box first).
Is the Lomi composter loud?
Loud, counter-eating, but makes excellent dirt This is true whether you solely run it on eco-mode and dump the dirt into your compost pile or green waste bin or run it in grow-mode to supplement your plants.
Can raw chicken go in Lomi?
Yes, Lomi can process most meat! We recommend adding 1/4 cup or less of cooked or uncooked meat to Lomi and running Eco-Express mode. Make sure that you do not add any bones from beef, pork, chicken or lamb as this may damage the grinder. Please note that there is a small exception here!
What can you do with Lomi dirt?
Lomi dirt can be added to your houseplants, garden, or lawn! Simply mix Lomi dirt in a 1:10 ratio with soil to feed your plants. Lomi dirt can be sprinkled on your lawn without mixing into other soil.
Can I put rice in Lomi?
Some food items are easier to deal with than others. Lomi is also quite different from traditional composting. If you are adding lots of fruit (full of sugar) to your Lomi, or lots of rice (high in starch) it will naturally tend to congeal while your food waste is being broken down & it will form into harder pieces.
How does Lomi compost so fast?
